For extra soft paint (like GMC black) you will need towels with an extra fine yarn, to prevent scratching, micro-marring, and trails. These fine towels and ultra-fine microfiber cloths are made from soft microfiber yarn that has a smaller diameter than other microfiber yarns. The extra fine yarn is has a lower mass per length, so it has a lower chance of leaving a mark. 

This yarn microfiber is more difficult to make consistently, so it is more expensive. You don't need to use this type of towel on every type of surface, only those which are most susceptible to damage.
